Skoda Kodiaq Scout Review

Czech carmaker Skoda first started its manufacturing with its well known model Skoda Octavia, followed by the bigger and more luxurious Skoda Superb, and it hasn’t looked back since then. Despite some service issues, the Octavia and the Superb managed to make a way for their journey in India. Skoda worked on limited models and more cars in each model, instead of coming with a new models every now and then. Skoda, however, hasn’t been big on SUVs. I think they missed this opportunity in the recent years. Coming back to Skoda Kodiaq, this is Skoda’s new-gen 7 seater SUVs which is big, very spacious, conventionally attractive and, like its sedans, loaded to the gills with features. The Kodiaq we have here is the first of Skoda’s new-age SUVs.

Skoda Kodiaq Scout - Exterior

At the front, Skoda Kodiaq gets all-black grille and a big silver scuff plate on the bumper. You can see badges on each of the front fenders. The silver finished coloured ORVMs looks good. On the rear, the bumpers find a new silver diffuser. You can also see the prominent Skoda spelt out in chrome lettering instead of Skoda badge. Overall the car looks muscular and feels like true SUV. It has a length of 4697mm, width of 1882mm and a wheelbase of 2791mm. Skoda Kodiaq is offered in five different colours Lava Blue, Magnetic Brown, Magic Black, Quartz Grey and Moon white. The car has adaptive headlights and panoramic sun roof which makes it in the group of luxury cars.

Skoda Kodiaq Scout - Interior

It gets all-black interior and gives premium appeal. The dark polished wood trimmings on the dashboard with the Scout badge, uplift the cabin and you can see the same trimmings on the door pads also. The new Skoda Kodiaq gets premium leather which looks nice from inside. The Kodiaq gets 9 airbags (if you value safety) and also fatigue detection. 3-zone AC gives a very good cooling effect though the car is huge. The car gets 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple and Android connectivity along with 10 speakers with a very good sound quality.

Skoda Kodiaq Scout - Driving

The best ever perfect SUV by Skoda, driving in all condition mode which makes feel comfortable. Better mileage, better performance and very comfortable. Driving even 1000 Kms would not you let feel exhausted. Long drives are truly what this car is made for. The ease to manage this huge vehicle in tight space is just a cakewalk with the all-round parking sensors and big mirrors/ windscreen. On the highway, this cruises so effortlessly drives like a luxury petrol sedan. Engine is quite silent. Definitely the car for self-drive.
It is powered by a 2.0 litre TDi engine which produces a max power of 148bhp@3500-4000rpm and a max torque of 340Nm@1750-3000rpm. It has a fuel tank capacity of 63 litres. The Skoda Kodiaq’s all four wheels are driven through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG).

Should I buy Skoda Kodiaq Scout?

Skoda Kodiaq seats seven, comes with a sophisticated and modern interior, and loaded with lot of tech and other car features. The only problem is its price. The Kodiaq isn’t cheap, but, like the range-topping Superb, it promises to deliver the full luxury-SUV experience at a premium. Can this car justify the ex-showrom price of Rs 34.49 lakh? At this price, you can also look at compact luxury SUVs like the Audi Q3 and BMW X1, and the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota’s Fortuner.
Team Buy Cars Online rates this car as 4 star.
